Just 14 km from Călăraşi, 66 km from Chisinau and 120 km from Iaşi, România, Vălcineţ is located in the heart of the Codru Forest and surrounded by natural forests, vineyards, and orchards. Its approximatively 5000 citizens consist of small business owners, farmers, students and pensioners.

First mentioned in medieval literature (July 17, 1436) Vălcineţ has a mixture of old and new. Main historical interest include the Church dedicated to Saint Nicolea built in 1812, the historical museum.

Vălcineţ isn’t simply looking to the past but is looking toward the future. Capital infrastructure improvements made in recent years include natural gas, central water, road improvements are steps toward making Vălcineţ a modern village . There is much work to do but with the support of the citizens, NGOs, and the public sector much will happen.
